We reflect on the career journeys of three directors and creatives, and how they’ve navigated the animation industry as women. Despite the progress our industry has made in terms of representation, the Names Will Be Made discourse has shown us that there’s more work to be done to support women and underrepresented genders in animation.

Neeraja Raj

Neeraja Raj is an Indian-origin London-based film director, writer and animator working in film and media, with an innate desire to tell authentic and emotionally captivating stories.
Recognised as one of Variety's Top 10 Animators to Watch (2022) and a Forbes 30 Under 30 - Entertainment honouree (2023), Neeraja has also previously worked at Aardman Animations and Disney.

Rosa Kennedy

Rosa is a 2D animator and motion designer at Flow Creative in Manchester, where she works predominantly on character animation and motion branding projects. Coming from a non-traditional background, she’s passionate about showing that there are many paths into animation and about championing equal opportunities for women in the industry.

Hannah Lau-Walker

With over ten years of experience within the commercial animation industry, Hannah has worked at indie studios to huge production houses. Animating everything from a laundrette morphing into a beautiful garden to a cow on skates. Since graduating from Central St.Martins, Hannah has developed her 2D animation skills to senior roles and led large animation productions working closely with crew to deliver exceptional work and has expanded into directing short films and commercials.

Lindsey Adams

Lindsey Adams is a producer, director and creative executive whose career has taken her from hands-on production into company leadership and wider industry advocacy. Over two decades she has helped to bring a range of animated projects to life while also shaping initiatives that champion underrepresented talent. Collaborating with studios, broadcasters and partners in Ireland, the UK and beyond, her work has been guided by a belief that progress in animation is not only about the stories we tell on screen but also about how we build the spaces behind the scenes.
