Zazie Capobianco

Originally from Oakland, California, Zazie grew up immersed in the animation industry. She spent her formative years primarily watching animation from the 1930s to the 1960s, which shaped her love of traditional animation. From ages 12 to 18, Zazie studied fine art at Oakland School for the Arts. After graduating, she wanted to experience life outside the US, so she moved to the UK where she studied animation at Nottingham Trent University.

While at NTU, she made her thesis film, Pigeons, which was inspired by her love of animals, educational media, and mid-century animation. This year her film won Best Undergraduate Animation at both the regional and national Royal Television Society Student Television Awards and is being shown at festivals around the world.

After graduating, Zazie worked freelance as an animator for the Our Looney Planet podcast and as an artist for Curiosity Studio. Currently, she’s got her foot in the door working as an animator for mobile games at Inspired Entertainment. In her spare time she continues to do freelance work, she recently did the graphic design and illustration for the Attenborough Science Festival. She is excited to be at MAF this year representing Pigeons.
