When a big supermarket (and everyone inside) is whisked off into a limbo-like dimension, a ragtag group of plucky teens must uncover a decades-old secret to bring their community home. Check Out is a darkly funny, big-hearted (and sometimes weird) animated feature about what people do when the systems they rely on fail – and who actually steps up to fix them.
Co Producer Dionne Farrell
As Head of Development at B-Side, Dionne Farrel nurtures and develops new and existing talent relationships, some of which were borne of her previous role as Development Executive at BBC Film. With a keen curatorial eye, Dionne oversees B-Side’s slate of TV and film projects, originating, acquiring and developing new projects, working closely with writers and directors to refine scripts, always with a view to bridge the gap between bold creative vision and commercial viability.
Writer/Director Rory Waudby-Tolley
Rory is a filmmaker from London. His RCA graduation film Mr Madila won prizes at Premiere Plans, Flickerfest, and the Royal Television Society, amongst others. Two new Mr Madila shorts were later commissioned by Adult Swim. His film Powerwash (I love you) won the best comedy award at the London Short Film Festival 2021. His latest short I Have A is currently on the festival circuit and won WTF Jury Distinction at Annecy and Audience Award for Best Animation at Palm Springs. As a screenwriter, he has projects in development at Big Talk and Studio Hamburg UK and is currently co-writing projects with Daniel Kaluuya and Nina Gantz. He is an associate lecturer of animation at the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins.
